AGRIBUSINESS MQF LEVEL 1
Learning Outcome: 1. I can recognise the morphology and nutritional requirements of different fish species.


- Name one ornamental coldwater fish (goldfish or koi or mosquito fish) and one ornamental tropical fish (Cichlids or Siamese fighting fish or Mollies)
- Name one marine edible fish: tuna or seabream or seabass or dolphinfish or pilotfish.
- Name one freshwater edible fish: tilapia or pangassius or salmon.
Label the different parts of a fish: gills; fins; scales; head.


- Herbivore: Goldfish or Koi or Mbuna Malawi cichlid.
- Omnivore: Kribensis (cichlid) or Mollies or Tilapia or Pangassius.
Carnivore: Tuna or Seabass or Seabream or Siamese fighting fish mosquito fish or Hap/Peacock Malawi cichlid or Salmon.


- Herbivore: Spirulina, Kelp.
- Omnivore: Spirulina, Kelp, Artemia sp. (Brine shrimp), Daphnia sp., Bloodworms, Fish meal and Fish oil.
Carniove: Artemia (Brine shrimp), Daphnia sp., Bloodworms, Fish meal and Fish oil.
Learning Outcome: 2. I can care for fish in order to prevent and cure diseases and correct disorders


- Risks: Electric shock; slipping; cuts; infections.


- Risks: injury from heavy machinery; infection; injury at sea; injury as a result of lifting objects.


Conditions: tank size; temperature; filtration; decor; salinity



- Construction: Each student must contstruct a fish tank of a minimum capacity of 30litres. If done in groups the minimum capacity should be number of students x 30 litres.
- Setup: Choice of location of aquarium; addition of substrate; add filter media; add heater(if needed); addition of décor (including plants) ; addition of water;
- Routine tasks: water change; cleaning; feeding; water testing;
- Health and Safety: switch off electrical components before cleaning; be aware of sharp edges; wear rubber sole shoes; wash hands; handle chemicals with care.
Learning Outcome: 3. I can explain simple techniques in land preparation and plant care


Land preparation technique for: a crop plant; or a horticultural plant; or a tree.


- Problems: weeds; pests; diseases; weather conditions.


- Techiques eg: de-weeding, tilling, pruning, spraying.


- Technology: drip; raised sprinkler; ground sprinkler.



Procedure:
- seed tray or raised seed bed.
Learning Outcome: 4. I can identify market needs and the importance of profit, loss and tax

- Edible Fruit production,
