Learning Area Outcome: I can locate, select, interpret and evaluate information about human experience in the past and in the present, and I can think critically and creatively about humanities issues.

Subject Focus: Historical Enquiry: Making Use of Sources, including the Way History is written, Learning about Events, People and Regions of the Past

  

 A1 COGNITIVE LEARNING 
I can determine the importance of asking questions about the past and, especially in the case of prehistory, try to find similarities with certain primitive societies to imagine what life could have been like.

A2 COGNITIVE LEARNING - I can use evidence from sources (e.g. artefacts, texts, video clips, maps, plans, etc.) to build a clear picture of the past.
A3  EXPRESSIVE LANGUAGE -
I can give examples of primary and secondary historical sources.
 
A4  LEARNING TO DO -
I can identify and distinguish between primary and secondary sources.A5 LEARNING TO DO - I can write captions to describe primary and secondary sources.
A6  COGNITIVE LEARNING - I can determine whether sources are reliable or biased.



Learning Area Outcome: I can explore and evaluate similarity and differences as well as change and continuity, in both the past and the present.

LISTENING AND SPEAKING
 I can explain the meaning of B.C., A.D., decade, century, millennium, period, era as used in history. 
B2 I can distinguish between B.C. and A.D. and how these are represented on a time-line.

 I can sort historical events, periods and personalities in chronological order.
B4 PLANNING AND REFLECTION 
 I can distinguish the fact that historical periods existed for different lengths of time according to the region.

Learning Area Outcome: I can think critically and creatively about moral and ethical issues in the past and the present, and about the diverse ways in which these issues can be understood.

Subject Focus: Ideas, Values, Beliefs and Behaviour of Human Beings. empathising with the Protagonists.


C1 LEARNING TO BE
I can use my imagination to reconstruct how life could have been like in a particular historical period.
C2  LEARNING TO BE
 I can empathize by acting the role of people in the past (e.g. the life of a slave in Ancient Rome). 
C3  LEARNING TO BE
I can compare how values and beliefs change over time (e.g. of a change in values: gladiator combats before and after the advent of Christianity in the Roman Empire)
C4  LEARNING TO BE
 I can identify and explain changes in values and beliefs of people from the past to those of today (e.g. slavery was accepted in the Classical Period but considered illegal today). 
C5 LISTENING AND SPEAKING
 I can list different interpretations of an event using one or more sources (e.g. the Crusades from the Christian and the Muslim points of view). 
C6  PERSONAL LEARNING
 
I can identify mistakes from the past and learn from them (e.g. the massacre by the Crusaders in Jerusalem in 1099).
